LinkedIn’s New Rules: A Hindrance to True Networking?

LinkedIn, once heralded as the ultimate platform for professional networking, is now facing criticism for a rule that limits users to posting in LinkedIn groups only 15 times per week. For anyone active in multiple groups, this rule is not only restrictive, but it seems to contradict the very purpose of LinkedIn: fostering professional connections and growth. After all, we’re allowed to join up to 100 groups — so why limit the ability to engage and share content in these communities?

For professionals like myself, who manage multiple clients’ marketing efforts, this rule has created an unnecessary obstacle. I post content for various clients every day, aiming to reach relevant groups and audiences. With the 15-post limit, I’m forced to make tough choices about where and when to post. If I post twice a day, I hit my weekly limit in no time. This is especially problematic when we consider that LinkedIn groups are niche-specific. Shouldn’t the platform be encouraging interaction within these groups rather than stifling it?
